Customer FAQ
Owner FAQ
- Am I locked into a contract?
Not at all. All access is pre-paid with no contractual obligations. When your time has expired you may allow the account to lapse, or simply recharge your account with additional time.
- How do I establish a connection to the Hotspot?
When within range of one of our Hotspots, search for networks in the area on your computer. Once one of our Hotspots is detected, establish a connection to the Hotspot with your wireless adapter software (or the standard wireless utility on your operating system). When the software indicates you are connected, open your web browser (for example: Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Safari). You should be redirected to a Portal Web page that will allow existing users to sign in and new users to sign up.
- How do I pay for Internet access?
Two options for payment are generally available, credit card and recharge card. Credit card payments are processed instantly so that your account can be used straight away. Alternatively, recharge cards are available at some Hotspot locations.
- What computer hardware is required to connect?
All that is required is an 802.11b/g compatible wireless adapter. These are readily available as external cards or USB adapters, and is built-in to most recent laptops. If you require a wireless adapter, we sell high power wireless adapters that are significantly stronger than built-in wireless in laptop computers.
- What type of transfer speeds can I expect?
The transfer speed at a given Hotspot location depends on the Upstream Internet provided at the location as well as the signal you are receiving. Most Hotspots offer speeds of up to 1.5 Megabits, this is over 20 times faster than dial-up!
- Where are your Hotspots located?
